Black Magic
Black Magic
The sky is beautiful from the stars.
And the earth is beautiful from the Pashtuns
-Pashto tappa (couplet)
I have also written my own tapa, just a funny one:
پاکستان ډېر ورانکارې!
تور جادو استعمالې!
Pakistan dir orankari!
Toor jadu estemali !
Pakistan is very naughty/destructive!
[it is] using black magic!
I am enjoying my classes-when the professor actually decides to show up- and preparing for my exams next week. Semesters are six months long, but “due to COVID”, the second semester is only three months long. So-mid term again! I enjoy foraging among the mulberry and loquat trees as I walk along the campus, playing cricket in the afternoon with the Chitrali girls, singing famous Pashto poetry with the Pashtun girls, enjoying the spring flowers and terribly hot weather.
My presentation went very well. Thank God I am progressing in the language. Pray I continue to learn and remember.
The picture above is a ring my friend gave me. It is only made in the northern villages where they handcraft it from the horns of the markhor- the national animal of Pakistan. (Screw horned goat)
Please pray for my health as I have been having some issues.
Pray for wisdom in a not very good situation involving the church I was at and the family that was helping me. Thank God for providing more community here among the other brothers and sisters.
Pray for continued conversations as relationships grow and for those who got some books.
Thank you all for praying and continuing to hold me up!
