Happy new year everyone
Happy new year everyone!
Happy New Year, everyone, and thank you for praying.
I'm currently residing in the girl’s hostel on campus, which, despite some challenges, provides a safe and comfortable environment. I'll be starting my classes on Monday, and I'm looking forward to the new academic year.
Most girls are gone for winter break, so the ones left are all from Chitral since it is far away. They are lovely, and I assure you that they are also foreigners here (though in the same province, Chitral is very far away from Peshawar, and they have their own language and culture).
I will be attending a church here on campus with the believers who received me from the airport. They are a lovely family, and we had a great time singing worship songs, combining my Western ukulele with their Eastern harmonium and wind piano.
The college is beautiful, except the sanitary conditions in the hostel are very poor. I have developed a continual cough from the mold, but so far, I have survived the rest.
Please pray for the new friends I made and the ones I will make as they arrive after winter break and classes start.
Pray for me to get adjusted to not living in a free country. I must ask permission and write an application every time I leave the hostel, which is very difficult. I especially cannot go for a walk or to the library or anything.
Pray for me as I start my classes and begin to study more languages. I’m happy with any entire conversation I can have. The gatekeeper doesn’t speak English, but the message got across in Pashto that I needed him to get bottled water because I was not drinking the water until I got more accustomed to the environment.
Peshawar, despite the conditions in my hostel, is a beautiful and safe city. I feel secure in my new environment and am adjusting well to the local culture.
Thank you all for your prayers and support. It means a lot to me. Wishing you a happy new year!
