Lessons in Discipleship (2) دروس في التلمذة

This is Dr. Ed Hoskins, welcoming you to lessons in discipleship series, designed to help new believers become established in their Christian faith. This will take me just a few seconds to turn on a PowerPoint presentation, and then we’ll get started.

Here we go. For our session today, we’re looking at basic assurances for a new believer. First, let me tell you a little about myself. First off, I’m a retired physician. I spent 34 years in family medicine and student health. I became a Christian 50 years ago and was helped early in my Christian faith by the navigators and international non-denominational Christian organization, whose stated goal is to know Christ and to make him know.

I’ve been on associate staff with that organization since 1980 lessons in discipleship is a compilation of what I learned during that time today’s session, basic assurances for a new believer

to start with coming to know Christ through their Jesus is a wonderful experience and all the angels of heaven, rejoiced. However, There was one person made extremely angry by here, decision Satan. He’s also called the accuser of the brother in revelations, chapter 12. The Bible says for the accuser of our brothers who accuses them before our God day and night, Satan hates a new believers decision to follow Christ.

Every Christian must be prepared to meet Satan’s very specific line accusations, which we know ESIS attacks.

And started Jesus’ ministry. Satan verbally attacked Jesus with three specific temptations listed in Matthew. Chapter four was after Jesus had fasted for 40 days and 40 nights. Each time Satan tact Jesus responded with it is written. And then he quoted scripture usually from Deuteronomy. Over the last 50 years, I’ve noticed it five of the most common satanic accusations for every new Christ follower I’ve found are the following.

You may not experience all of these, but certainly experience one or more. First one has to do with salvation. Satan would like you to think that you’re not really saved. Second one has to do with prayer. Same wants you to doubt that about God’s ability to answer your prayers. He doesn’t really hear you.

He’s too busy. Third one has to do with temptation has to do with your past. Some temptations are too powerful for you to resist. You’re weak. You cannot escape your sinful nature. Again, that’s another lie from Satan Christ promises. When we come to know him, we become a new creature. Another attack is you’re too sinful.

You’re a horrible person. God could not possibly forgive all of your sense. A fifth one has to do with guidance. God, won’t guide you in this life. You’re on your own. Um, so how do we defend ourselves against Satan’s lying attacks, answer by memorizing and quoting scripture just as Jesus did. Yeah. Look at the very first one having to do with salvation.

You’re not really saved. You just had the emotional experience. What is our defense memorize, the following verse using memorize all three parts, topic, reference, and verse to fix it firmly in mind, quote the reference at the start and end of each verse, just like the back and front end of a ship. Repeat the reference for, and AFT like this assurance of salvation.

First John five, 11 and 12. And this is the testimony God has given us eternal life. This life is in his son. Whoever has the son has life. Whoever does not have the son of God does not have life. First, John five, 11 and 12. Let’s go to Satan’s. Second accusation has to do with prayer. God doesn’t really hear your prayers are answered again.

It’s another lie from Satan. What is our defense memorize? The following verse rim use quoted topic reference in verse four and half assurance of answered prayer. John 16, 24, Jesus promised until now you have not asked for anything in my name asking you will receive, and your joy will be complete. John 16, 24.

Let’s go to our third temptation. Some patients are temptations are just too powerful. Theatre resist. You’re weak. You can’t escape your own sinful nature. What is their defense? The truth memorize and use the following verse four and a half. Assurance of victory over sin. First Corinthians 10, 13, no temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind and God is faithful.

He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear, but when you are attempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. First Corinthians 10, 13, let’s look at our, the fourth major attack. You’re just too simple. You’re such a bad person. God, can’t forgive all of your sins. Well, it’s hard to fence again, the truth, memorize topic reference in verse four and a half to fall in verse I Sharon’s of forgiveness first, John one nine.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just, and will forgive us our sins and purists purify us from all unrighteousness first, John one nine and finally guidance. Me guys, you don’t like you’re on your own. The defense again is God’s true. Memorize it. Topic reference in verse four and a half. Sharon, some guidance Proverbs three, five, and six trust in the Lord with all your heart lean, not on your own understanding in all your ways, submit to him.

He will make your paths straight. Proverbs three, five, and six. Let’s summarize what we learned from this brief presentation. First, all believers face long accusations. Our defense has God’s word and be prepared as may. Not just happen. One time you may happen a number of times each time. Meet it with God’s truth.

Each memorized first can be used by the Holy spirit in our defense three review your verses daily consider using three by five cards. That’s what I’ve done. And I still do. Well, we’ll see you next time for another session of lessons in discipleship. When we covered living the balanced Christian life, the wheel illustration, that wraps up today’s presentation.

Thanks for coming and being a part until next time. Keep following Jesus. He is worth it. Thank you.
