Hello, welcome to this class on the Holy Spirit.

It’s a class for New Believers to strengthen you in your faith and to help you understand The person and the work of the Holy Spirit in your own heart Wherever you are.

My name is Jerry and we’re going to begin today in a series of messages.

I’m talking about my one of my best friends. In fact, probably my best friend and And we’re going to help you see how you can understand the Holy Spirit in a much better way. And the Holy Spirit is going to speak to you through this, primarily because we’re going to use only scripture.

And in this, in this study, and I want You to listen carefully and allow the Holy Spirit to speak to you. He will speak to you wherever you are.

Two major things on the Holy Spirit That you have to understand that are very important.

And if you understand these two things, you understand pretty much all that you need.

Holy Spirit can From that point on with that understanding can help you understand the rest of Scripture because he is the author of Scripture and he is with you every moment and he can be there, and he can bring scriptures to your mind and he can speak to you on all of them. And so the two most important things we need to understand is:

-one he is God.

And,

-two, he is a person.

Without understanding those two things We’re left with the Holy Spirit. Oh, he maybe is here maybe is not, and when he’s here, what is he doing? But if you understand these two things and you understand that he is, he is a real person But that he is also God. He begins to take on a new dimension, a new understanding for you. He is with me right now. He is with you as a new believer right now. And that may be hard to understand because we understand many times God is so great and so magnificent and so distant. That we don’t understand the person that is real to us right now.

First off, we’re going to Understand that he is God. We will use Scripture to show us that he has got. I’ve studied, works in the Holy Spirit for over 20 years. And there are many wonderful good books on the Holy Spirit that many people have written down through the ages. But the best book on the Holy Spirit is the Bible itself. And what’s wonderful about?

Using the Bible is that the Holy Spirit was the writer he was the inspirer of Scripture, and he used men. To tell us about himself and about the father and the son. And he can he. Put together the whole book of Scripture. And so anytime you can ask him. What do you mean about this passage? Tell me about this story. God, I want to understand what you’re trying to say to me. What you were trying to reveal? About Christ and about the father In this passage, and he will do that. Because he’s there with you, so he will reveal Scripture.

I used to read books, historical books, and there were times I would be reading a particular book that I would say I wonder if I wish I could talk to the author to understand what he really meant when he wrote this particular thing, and then I realized that with the word of God, I could ask the Holy Spirit exactly what he meant at that particular moment.

So he is God.

He is seen from beginning and end, all through all of Scripture. The first verse he appears in is the second verse of Genesis, which is the first book in the Old Testament. He is in it’s Genesis 1/2 and it says the earth was formless and void and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the spirit of God was moving. Over the face of the waters or the darkness.

This is a very interesting scripture.

It describes what was happening at Creation. And the earth at this point was nothing was happening on Earth.

It was just formless and void, But it says the spirit of God was hovering over this formlessness this void this darkness?

And it’s a description of what the Holy Spirit does for you As a last person.

He’s actually all he’s actually working in your heart and your life before you even come to Christ.

He knows who you are And he’s ordering events and times So that you Might come to Christ and he was doing that.

And as you are a new believer, you have to look back and understand that the Holy Spirit was there with you and he was forming Events in your life. He was giving you thoughts, To point you towards Christ.

And so it’s a wonderful scripture that points to first of all, what the Holy Spirit was doing in the creation.

Event but he was there and also what he does in your own particular life. And as a believer now he is still there. But now he is not hovering over darkness, he is hovering over.A saved one of his children. A child of God.

And now he’s ordering events in your life to bring you into Christ-likeness. We also see the spirit of God in at the end of Scripture in Book of Revelation.

Almost the last verse and it says the spirit and the bride, say, come and let one who hears, say, come, and let the one who is thirsty come. Let the one who wishes to take the water of life without cost.

What is happening here? Is this actually pictures what is happening right now the Holy Spirit is here and you?

Are part of The Bride of Christ. And so together what you are doing are calling those that are lost and are thirsty for God. To come to him. And so together we work with as the bride of Christ. We work with the Holy Spirit to call men and women and children to Christ.

I love it.

Next, he is God because he’s eternal. He has no beginning and no end;

In Hebrews 9:14 we see something very fascinating about the work of the Holy Spirit with regard to Christ and in this passage, he’s called the Eternal Spirit.

And it says in 9:14 is how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit, offered himself Jesus.

Without blemish to God the Father, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve a living God, we see a picture of the work of the Holy Spirit here.

When Christ was living upon the Earth, and So what we see here is that when Jesus was on the cross, the Holy Spirit was with Jesus.

Through his entire ministry and when he went to the cross, the Holy Spirit was there and it says he took the blood of Christ.

To the father. And it says it was in a temple made not with hands, so it was.

It was nothing that man could interfere in and interfere with the Pharisees, the Sadducees, the Jewish leadership, the Romans, nobody could interfere with. He bled and died for you and he’s and in that blood which was the perfect sacrifice. We see the Holy Spirit taking. To the father.

As a propitiation or a perfect sacrifice for your sins. And as a result of that. And our recognition in faith of that particular of that finished work, it will cleanse our conscience from dead works, so that we might freely and wonderfully serve a living God.

Also, see Deuteronomy 3327. The eternal God is a dwelling place and underneath are the everlasting arms. It takes the large picture of who the Holy Spirit is, and sometimes we make him so large we can’t make him very personal. But it says The Eternal Spirit, the eternal God, is a dwelling place.

In other words, he becomes for us. One who carries us about.

We think sometimes we make a lot of our own decisions.

But we have to understand as believers.

That the Holy Spirit literally is carrying us about.

And the more we understand and just yield to the spirits work in our heart and.

Life the more we’re going to understand.

The person of the Holy Spirit being with us.

But the wonderful part is, is that we can’t destroy him.

We can’t bring him to an end.

He doesn’t disappear.

He’s with us always.

He is eternal.

Well, we’ve come to the end of this section. And it’s been wonderful to be with you, and I trust the Holy Spirit has begun to minister to your heart and will continue to minister to your heart.

I close with the scripture:

“But you, beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life.” Jude 1:20-21

We’ll see you again soon.
